John Walters, Director of National Drug Control Policy and President Bush’s “Drug Czar,” met with officials from community anti-drug coalitions throughout the Atlanta area (on the first stop of a twenty-six day tour) to discuss local efforts to prevent and reduce drug abuse. Genesis Prevention Coalition was selected to host this special event.

While visiting with coalition members and other community leaders, Walters toured our Computer Clubhouse. During this tour, Walters was able to exchange with clubhouse youth and experience first hand many of the technological skills and projects they’ve been developing. Following the tour and exchange with youth, Walters addressed the youth and crowd of community leaders on the importance of drug abuse prevention, strategies to combat this problem, and the importance of community involvement.
